The Work We Do Around Matthews
Three services, each backed by a Matthews job from this yearโs log.
House Lockouts
The most recent Matthews lockout on our books was a house on Butterburr Drive: we verified the resident, picked the door open, and the lock kept working. Drilling is the last resort, not the first.
Learn more →Rekeying
A recent West Matthews Street job: one lock rekeyed, two copies cut on the spot. Most Matthews rekeys are about that size, and small jobs get booked like any other.
Learn more →Storefront Doors
When a storefront lock on East Independence gave out completely, we replaced the whole unit rather than patching it. Aluminum store doors and their hardware are weekly work here.
Learn more →When a Matthews Lock Repair Takes Two Visits
Most lock repairs in Matthews end the day they start. Some do not, and we would rather say so at the door than pretend. At the end of July a credit union branch here called about a lock that had quit. The technician opened it up, found the failed piece, and it was a part nobody carries on a van. The part had to be sourced, we came back on August 12, and the repair was finished on that second visit.
The rest of this summer's commercial work in Matthews was one-visit jobs. In June a pharmacy had two locks replaced and a new exit alarm fitted on the same ticket. In July we opened a locked suite in a commercial building on Sam Newell Road. In August an off-price clothing store had us out for the hinge screws on one of its doors. Hinge screws sound small, but on a door that swings a few hundred times a day they are what keeps the latch lined up with the strike, so loose ones show up first as a lock that will not catch. The same month a glass entry door in town got the new lock in the photos below.
If you run a store or a branch office in Matthews and the ticket just says "lock not working", tell us what kind of door it is and whether the key side or the inside has failed. That is usually enough for us to load the right parts before we leave Charlotte.
Recent Locksmith Work in Matthews
The house calls in this summer's Matthews log were small and specific. A new lock went in on Franklin Meadows Drive in June, the same month we had a job on Stanbury Drive. In August one lock on West Matthews Street was rekeyed and two key copies were cut on the spot. In September a homeowner on Butterburr Drive, on the 28104 side of town, was locked out and we got the door open.
The business half of the log is in the section above: a credit union branch, a pharmacy, a clothing store, a suite on Sam Newell Road, and a glass entry door. Several of those calls come to us through national facility-management companies, which is its own kind of reference: chains do not call back a locksmith who showed up late once.
How Matthews Calls Usually Go
Matthews sits right against southeast Charlotte, so a technician is usually at your door the same day, often within a couple of hours. The pattern here is familiar: new homeowners near downtown and the Four Mile Creek side want every lock rekeyed on closing day, businesses on East Independence want their storefront closers and panic hardware to actually pass inspection, and property managers want one invoice instead of three. All three are normal days for us.

Common Questions From Matthews
About twenty minutes from our Charlotte base in normal traffic. During business hours we'll give you a concrete arrival window when you call.
Usually not. Usually a sticking deadbolt is a worn cylinder or a misaligned strike plate, and either one costs far less to fix than a new lock. We'll tell you honestly which one you need.
Yes, 28104 and 28105, plus the Stallings and Indian Trail borders where addresses get ambiguous. If your GPS says Matthews, we come.
Yes. An August job on West Matthews Street was exactly that: one lock rekeyed and two key copies cut before the technician left. Whole-house rekeys after a closing are more common here, but a single lock is a normal call.
We tell you on the first visit, source the part, and come back to finish. A credit union branch in Matthews went that way this summer: the first visit at the end of July found a part that had to be ordered, and the lock was fixed on August 12.
Yes, any day of the week between 8am and 10pm. A September call on Butterburr Drive was a house lockout, and in July we opened a locked suite for a business on Sam Newell Road.
We'll get back to you within 15 minutes during business hours.
